The Ruins

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Horror, gore, and some sci-fi wrapped up in one film, The Ruins is definitely worth watching.

My sister told me about this movie (watched it earlier this week), so I figured I better take a look at it and am very glad that I did.

Staring Jonathan Tucker and Jena Malone, a group of college kids visit the site of a Mayan ruin not knowing what dangers lie ahead. If you’re thinking some crazy man going around killing people, you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you find out the truth behind the ruins disguise. Even though I laughed through a lot of the movie, which I tend to do with horror movies because for some reason I find them funny…lol, certain situations come up when you’re asking yourself…what would I do?

On a scale from A to F, I give The Ruins an A+. By the way, I watched the Unrated Version.

Family & Injury

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Had a nice visit with the family. Things started off rocky - they were in a car accident on the way here. Car ended up being towed back to Pennsylvania but no one was hurt. Everyone had a great time and left Monday morning at 3. My sis and I were glad when they got here and glad when they left…lol…it’s exhausting cooking, cleaning, and entertaining for about 17 people for three days.

Sunday, I fell down our back steps and twisted my ankle. It’s swollen really bad and I can’t walk on it. Went to the ER this morning and nothing is broken but I tore some ligaments. So now, pain medication, ice packs, elevation, crutches, ace bandage, and an air cast is needed. I was told to stay off my feet for about a week. I plan on it as well. It’s not like I can’t use the break.

My sis and I are going to watch some movies…reviews will be coming.

Trying To Get Caught Up

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

It’s been awhile. I’m behind on everything. Had a scare Friday…my aunt was having chest pains…spent Friday and Saturday with her. She’s doing much better and she didn’t have a heart attack so that’s good. Have family coming up in a couple of weeks so trying to get the house ready for everyone and at the same time trying to get caught up on the webpage updates.

Lady Venom
Added a new song to Lady Venom’s Official Site today titled Chopped Liver. It’s Drum N Bass. I have a few more songs that I’m hoping to upload this week as well.

Beautifully Dead
I will be added a new song to the Beautifully Dead site this week as well.

Ofira Sephiroth
Found out this morning that Disordered won 3rd Place in a poetry contest on Writing.Com. June 3, 2008, Overburdened won 2nd Place in another contest. Will be working on adding some new poems to the official site this week.

Other Projects
I’m in the process of working on a Digital Download store for Lady Venom and Beautifully Dead. As of right now, there is a downloads section on both sites but I’d like to combine them. I’m also working on a store for Ofira Sephiroth as well. I’ll also be working on new Ringtones as well as new Merchandise for all three.

Santeria

Monday, May 26th, 2008

I honestly never heard of this movie before. My sister ran across it and decided it was worth watching. I agree with her on that point. Santeria is a movie that deals with a particular Virgin Mary sighting….but there’s a twist to the movie and I’m not getting ready to ruin it for you.

Santeria is in both Spanish and English. There are certain places where you’ll have to read the screen - unless you’re bilingual, but it doesn’t hurt the movie at all. I never have a problem with foreign movies but I know some people are particular about what they watch so I figured that little note was important.

Overall I feel the acting was done very well. On a scale of A to F, I give Santeria an B+.

Mad City

Monday, May 26th, 2008

With Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta sharing the big screen, you can never go wrong. Mad City - John Travolta, after being fired from his job as a museum security guard, goes postal…lol. Dustin Hoffman, the ambitious reporter looking to make his way back into network reporting…very good movie.

Mad City is one of those movies where you’re not sure if you should be laughing or crying. Everyone will be able to relate to it…especially right now since our economy is so bad. Mad City is the type of movie that will have you honestly thinking, “what would I do in this situation”.

On a scale of A to F, I give Mad City an A+.

AVP 2

Monday, May 26th, 2008

AVP 2 was awesome. Being a fan of both Aliens and The Predator, it was nice when they decided to join the two for a movie. As a sequel, they did a great job. It’s action packed from beginning to end and definitely worth watching. The Predator was kicking some serious ass in this sequel. All of the acting/casting was done very well - special effects, story line, and ending were perfect in my opinion. The way it ended left it open for a possible trilogy but at the same time wrapped up the series - in case the directors/writers have no intention of making another one.

AVP 2 was very impressive and has been added to my short list of movies where the sequel lives up the first. On a scale from A to F, I give AVP 2 an A+.
